Transforming Dementia Care at Burlington Hall with Ally

Articles, Case Studies

Burlington Hall, a care home in Woburn Sands, Milton Keynes, has embraced digital innovation to enhance the care provided to its 53 residents, many of whom require specialist dementia care. As part of their digital transformation journey, the care home adopted Ally’s Resident Monitor to significantly improve resident safety, staff efficiency, and the overall quality of care.

Enhancing resident safety

Since the introduction of Ally, Burlington Hall has seen a marked improvement in resident safety, particularly at night.

“Before we implemented Ally’s acoustic monitoring, our biggest concern was not knowing if a resident had fallen during the night until morning rounds,” explains Anda Marin. “Now, we receive instant alerts if there is any sign of distress. This has been especially helpful for our dementia residents, who are at higher risk of falls. We’ve had no night-time falls since the system was installed, which is a testament to its effectiveness.”

The ability to intervene promptly when needed has prevented incidents from escalating and ensured that residents receive immediate assistance, significantly reducing the risk of injury or distress.

Improving resident well-being

One of the key benefits of Ally is its positive impact on residents’ sleep quality. By eliminating the need for routine physical checks, residents are able to sleep uninterrupted, leading to improved well-being.

“Sleep is essential for our residents, especially those with dementia,” says Anda. “The less we disturb them, the better they feel the next day. Ally has allowed us to monitor them in a way that doesn’t intrude on their rest, and we’ve seen noticeable improvements in their mood and overall health.”

Conclusion

Ally is proud to support Burlington Hall in its digital transformation and be part of the suite of innovative solutions being used to directly improve the quality of care and resident safety.

Thomas Tredinnick, CEO of Ally, stated: “Our mission at Ally is to use technology to make care homes safer and more efficient, without sacrificing the personal touch that is so important in care settings. The results we’ve seen at Burlington Hall are exactly what we aim to achieve—residents are safer, staff are more efficient, and overall care quality has improved. We’re delighted to see how much of a difference the system has made.”

Anda Marin summed up: “Ally Cares has made a huge difference to the way we care for our residents. It’s given us peace of mind, knowing that we can respond quickly when needed, without disturbing residents unnecessarily. It’s been a win-win for both staff and residents, and we’re grateful for the positive impact it’s had on our care home.”
